The place where toys go to die

I buy too many toys for my two children (ages 5 and 8). Help me. They’re burying me. Can’t….breathe….

Read my toy reviews and learn. LEARN, I SAY! Whatever you do, avoid the temptation to invest in any stuffed animal larger than a throw pillow, anything with animatronics and, my god, don’t buy those huge cardboard blocks that seemed like a good idea at a time. Trust me on this.

Who is the Toy Maven?

I’m an internet marketing consultant (no surprise there!) working from home while trying to raise two wonderful, if slightly crazy, girls. You can learn more about my business here. This is far from my first time blogging – I keep a blog on my professional site, I also blog (only occasionally now) about my youngest daughter who was born with a cleft lip and palate. You can read her story at www.cleftstories.com.

The Toy Testers

Ana: 8 years old, favorite Ugly dolls are Ugly Ghost and Ice Bat. Favorite toys include LEGO, Playmobil, stuffed animals of all shapes and sizes, anything having to do with art, and her DS. Ana insists she doesn’t like dolls or anything too “girly girl” but I’ve seen her playing at the Barbie bin with her sister on more than one occasion.

Emily: 5 years old, favorite Ugly doll is Poe (sleeps with it every night), favorite toys include Barbie dolls, Ty Girlz dolls, Liv dolls, Only Hearts Club dolls (are you sensing a theme here?) She also loves playing stuffed animals with big sister Ana and has been known to pick up a LEGO on occasion.
