Great toy-buying advice, even after Santa’s long gone

Posted on December 28th, 2009 by toymaven

In my quest for like-minded toy blogs, I stumbled upon this post from a site called “The Toy Blog” which provides some excellent guidelines for buying Christmas toys for your kids. I think the advice is good for any sort of toy-buying experience though. Very sound. Very reasonable. Will definitely help you maintain sanity while not going overboard. Here’s my favorite quote:

“[Buy] Educational toys or books. Again, this won’t make you a hero to your kid, but if you sit down and play with them, it will mean more than Santa pooping on your doorstep.”

He said “pooping.” Tehe.

The author also seems to share my aversion for pseudo-creative toys the likes of which I have already waxed poetic about. He makes a great point about messy toys that are designed for repeat play. I think this is an excellent way of describing the phenomenon that is PixOs even though one can purchase PixOs refills. I’m adding The Toy Blog as the very first site to my blogroll. Hooray for kindred spirits.
